چکیده

Abstract Fourier domain mode-locked (FDML) lasers are some of the fastest wavelength-swept light sources, and used in many applications like optical coherence tomography (OCT), OCT endoscopy, Raman microscopy, detection ranging, two-photon microscopy. For a deeper understanding underlying laser physics, it is crucial to investigate field evolution FDML clarify whether provides frequency comb structure. In this case, would output coherent sweep with stable phase relation between colours. To get access field, beat signal measurement stable, monochromatic performed. Here we show experimental evidence well-defined comb-like structure laser. This agreement numerical simulations. insight will enable new jitter-free spectral-scanning, coherent, synthetic THz-generation as metrological time-frequency ruler.

A semiconductor-based, frequency-stabilized mode-locked laser using a phase modulator and an intracavity etalon.

We report a frequency-stabilized semiconductor-based mode-locked laser that uses a phase modulator and an intracavity Fabry-Perot etalon for both active mode-locking and optical frequency stabilization. A twofold multiplication of the repetition frequency of the laser is inherently obtained in the process. The residual timing jitter of the mode-locked pulse train is 13 fs (1 Hz to 100 MHz), mea...

Dispersion, coherence and noise of Fourier domain mode locked lasers.

We report on the effect of chromatic dispersion on coherence length and noise of Fourier Domain Mode Locked (FDML) lasers. An FDML laser with a sweep range of 100 nm around 1550 nm has been investigated. Cavity configurations with and without dispersion compensation have been analyzed using different widths of the intra-cavity optical band-pass filter. The measurements are compared to non-FDML ...

Coherence length extension of Fourier domain mode locked lasers

Fourier domain mode locked (FDML) lasers provide high sweep rates, broad tuning ranges, and high output powers for optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems. However, presently-known FDML lasers at 1300 nm have relatively short coherence lengths, limiting the size of samples that can be imaged. Furthermore, FDML lasers produce only one useable sweep direction. We report FDML coherence length e...

Frequency synchronization of Fourier domain harmonically mode locked fiber laser by monitoring the supermode noise peaks.

In a harmonically mode locked laser, the supermode noise peaks in the RF spectrum can be observed directly because they are separated from the driving frequency and its harmonics of the active mode locker. Using a simple theoretical model, we showed that the intensities of the supermode noise peaks will decrease if the coherence of the laser output decreases. We harmonically mode locked a Fouri...

Self-injection locking and phase-locked states in microresonator-based optical frequency combs.

Microresonator-based optical frequency combs have been a topic of extensive research during the last few years. Several theoretical models for the comb generation have been proposed; however, they do not comprehensively address experimental results that show a variety of independent comb generation mechanisms. Here, we present frequency-domain experiments that illuminate the transition of micro...
